      Dennis,

A photo :) Aww shucks. Now you must know they are all smoke and mirrors just like Hollywoody – and I’m a Grandmother! A very, cool one mind you dubbed Zaza by the oldest sacred Grandchild. But we’ll get some photo to you and feel free to forward books for signature to PO Box 22027, Nashville, TN 37202

Blessings and thanks for your note,

River how do I go about ordering all your books from the first one you wrote to the last .Sheila had loan me the very first one you wrote . now that I have cancer I have alot of time on my hands and reading your books is just the medicine I need

    • River Jordan says:

      Dianne,

I would never wish that Cancer was the reason for having more time to read but I do believe there is healing in a good story. You can click on the Books link at the top of my website and then click on any book you are interested in – It will give you multiple places to order books or purchase. Or you can wander to your favorite local bookstore. If they don’t have it they can order anything and get it in a few days. Thank you so much for your note. I’ll be praying for you and your healing.

I am still reading your book “Praying for Strangers” and to tell you the truth, I am enjoying your book. The way you write is like there is a bunch of us sitting around and you’ll telling us about all these people that you meet along the way for today or yesterday. I lost my way back when and me and my kids right now are in kind of a “rabbit hole”. It has been pretty bleak and I would like if you could maybe put in a good word to God for us. To go into specifics would be very long but I am willing to reach out somehow before we are really are buried. Thank you for reading this and I appreciate you book, too.
    Sincerely,

    Tina Budasoff

    • River Jordan says:

      Tina,

I have been in some very, dark valleys. I understand. I’ll make a deal with you. I’ll put in a word for you with God if you’ll put in a word for me. :)
Blessings and will be thinking of you.

  5. Margot says:

Dear River, Earlier this year I read Praying for Strangers from cover to cover. I think about your practice of reaching out to “strangers” every day. Your book really affected me and often I reach out to strangers in a kind way, but usually don’t say I will pray for them. But sometimes I do, and I’m working on doing it more often. The interesting thing is when i do say I will pray for them, I remember their name, as you said you did. And I realize I can pray for you too.
Outside my window, the light is on the new fallen snow outside and I have not doubt that spring will come before long. Joy to you and yours, Margot

    • River Jordan says:

      Margot,
It’s really ‘me’ here :) . Thank you for writing. I certainly need prayers as I’ve got a bug and need to fly out for Seattle tomorrow. And thank you as I complain about being in this cold, drafty house that you are still in snow – and spring cometh for certain. Your prayer request makes me want to stop everything and throw myself on the floor in prayer. You can be assured I will be praying. God Bless!

  6. Karen says:

I’ve just picked up your book Praying For Strangers. I’ve been doing this practise off and on for several years. Sometimes, I keep them in my prayers until it’s not on my heart anymore. Recently, I’ve touched out to people on facebook. On Monday mornings I post that if anyone would like for me to pray for them to just click on ‘like”. I mention that they don’t need to tell me what they need prayers for that God will know.

Your book is so inspirational, can you just imagine if everyone in the world would do this!

    • River Jordan says:

      Karen,
Thank you so much for writing. And for sharing prayer in an individual way. And not using it as a search for ‘gossip’ material. yes, I love praying for others without knowing their business. Prayer request are just fine and also not needed as God knows the issues and the answers.
      Blessings!

      River

    • River Jordan says:

      Karen,
Your comment some how went to spam so I am sorry I didn’t reply. Or if I did I don’t remember. Yes, if everyone in the world did this – it would be a different kind of place I think. Or if everyone in one particular city did this for just one year, can you imagine? I think you can. Thanks for your note and Blessings to you and yours!

  7. Jennifer says:

    River,

I’ve never written to an author about a book before, but I just wanted to tell you how much I loved Praying for Strangers. I came across it randomly in the grocery store checkout line, right in the middle of the trashy celebrity gossip magazines, and it kind of jumped out at me. So I read the back and decided it looked promising, but times have been too hard for me to buy things I don’t need on an impulse, and I put it back. But a minute later it was on the belt with my groceries, because a persistent gut feeling just said this is something I *need*. So I started flipping through it at home, and ended up devouring the book in two days. I cried through many of the stories. I have been praying for God to give me some way to serve Him, even though work keeps me out of church much of the time. Bless you for writing this book! I will be doing this. And thank you as well for talking about your introversion; that was like seeing myself in a mirror. I’m emboldened to know that if God moves me to talk to people it will probably be okay in spite of my anxiety, just like it was for you.

    Jennifer

    • River Jordan says:

      Jennifer,
Oh, thank you for writing. You know, there are so many notes to writers that I should be writing and I don’t take the time to do it and tell them how much their books have meant to me. I need to take this letter as an inspiration that I should. If you don’t mind sharing, what store were you in to discover Praying for Strangers? It’s nice to know where they are showing up. And yes, you can certainly do this. Even if you don’t tell someone you will say a prayer for them later, just connecting, complimenting, chatting, and remembering them in your prayers is awesome.
      Blessings,

      River

      • Jennifer says:

I bought it at a Fred Meyer in northwest WA state. I don’t know how far south and east those stores go, but its a grocery/department store that’s part of the Kroger chain. Our stores this close to the border get a nice chunk of their business from Canadians, so you’re getting international exposure up here.

        • River Jordan says:

Yay Fred Meyer! We have Kroger’s here but not a ‘FM’ so not certain of the difference. I love that the book is by the cash register and among the gossipy magazines :) I’ve often wondered what the future would look like if we could just change the covers of some of the mags in checkout lines. Something that featured maybe positive role models, exciting discoveries . . . and so on.
