      Monica,

Mother of THE Karen :) It’s nice to have friends and family in great places. Thank you for reading because just because you receive them doesn’t mean you have to read or finish them! Good to hear from you.

I just finished reading your book Praying for Strangers and it was truly life changing. I am a Pastor in The Salvation Army and have put my church to a 30 day challenge of praying for strangers. Already the stories are coming in and personally it has changed how I go about my day. I feel more in tune with the spirit and more loving and aware of others. Thank you for being faithful and obedient.

      Sandra,

I’m always so thankful when I receive posted comments such as yours or private, personal notes. It still amazes me how Praying for Strangers is finding it’s way into the world and into hearts. I am blessed to know that people are connected, and that you are receiving positive stories from those meetings. God bless your work and all those who work alongside you!

Hey River I am reading your book Praying for Strangers and loving it. My daughter in law sent it to me for my birthday. I have a strange question but have you ever lived in the Gulf Breeze area? I went to church with a lady whose first name was River. That is a rare name and was not sure if there was more than one of you out there or not? I went to the little Presbyterian Church in Gulf Breeze , Concord Presbyterian. Just curious. Well thanks for your obidence to the Lord in your writings. This is the first of your books I have had the privilege of reading . Am looking forward to reading them all. Thanks and God Bless You.
    Pam

    • River Jordan says:

      Hi Pam,

I love Gulf Breeze and used to live in Pensacola and run that road between there and Panama City (hometown) frequently but that wasn’t me. I’m so glad you discovered Praying for Strangers and are enjoying it. And what a great daughter-in-law :) The novels are very southern, mystical, mystery so they are different by far than PFS but wonderful, wonderful stories. I hope you do get to read and find them special. Blessings!

    Hi River,

To begin with I would just like to thank you for undertaking this amazing venture of praying for a stranger a day. I only just stumbled across you today and your story has really inspired and encouraged me to start my own journey of praying for strangers. I have recently felt a call in my own life to pray for strangers, like you mentioned those special people that just stand out in a crowd. I am a Christian and am continuing to discover how powerful and positive it is to pray with and for people and that when we do it releases God to work in that persons life. Despite this I am naturally an introverted person and often when I feel a prompting from the Holy Spirit to pray for someone or give them money or something I shy away from it. I do however seek to step out on this journey of faith and break out of my comfort zone and self-centered life. Anyway, I thank you very much again for taking this step of faith and sharing your experience of praying for strangers because I believe that simple little undertakings like these can have wide-spread effects. Also you are a very talented writer and are using your gift in amazing ways. Keep up the good work!
May God bless you and your family abundantly!

    Daniel, from Australia!

    • River Jordan says:

      Daniel,

Well, welcome to my world :) I know exactly how you feel and the funny thing is – after writing the book I STILL feel that way. I had to bump into one man three times recently before I said anything to him. Finally when I turned around and he was right there beside me in the parking lot I just gave up and told him I’d be remembering him and his family in my prayers. He was so thankful, and so cheered by that I just can’t imagine what my hesitation was. You’re from Australia! Do you still live there? If so, how’d you find out about PFS book?
      Blessings to you and yours!

        River,

Yes I still live in Australia! Yesterday I was looking for encouragement on how to pray for strangers and simply typed ‘how to pray for strangers’ in YouTube and found your interview video. Praise God for the internet hey because while there is a lot of junk floating around there is also so much good that it can channel across the globe. Again, much thanks, and tonight your my stranger! I’ll be keeping you in my prayers!
        God bless

Your book came to NSCC library and Carolyn Jeans from HR read, then gave to me. PFS is so powerful. I sent you a tweet before I saw the BIG “talk to me” button…must be my 3D glasses…ha-ha! Time has sure flown since you left here in ’09. I’m praying your sons are doing well. I’ll be retiring come June 30, 2013. Looking forward to being with family and friends, that is, more than just a short week-end. So very proud of you and your writings; which are amazing, inspirational, and so uplifting! Thank you for praying for strangers and writing the PFS book of encouragement. If our world only knew the “power” of prayer, if only…so we pray!

Much love and prayer I send to you,
    Polly

    • River Jordan says:

      Polly,

Here you are! Thank you so much for writing. Truly it means so much to receive this letter. This one, and ones like it, keep me both grounded and elated. Please drop in any time and say hello!

  7. Laura Cegala says:

    Dear River,
I was given your book Praying For Strangers as a birthday gift on New Years Eve. Shortly after I received a group email from a couple who ran an underground restaurant that I had been wanting to try, but had never found the time for. The email was to inform all of their patrons that Ryan, one of the chefs, had just been diagnosed with a very rare and terrible cancer.
Because your book had so moved me, I wrote to Jem and Ryan to let them know that I would be praying for them everyday until he either got well or went home to be with The Lord. I set my alarm for noon everyday and pray for a young man and his family. Ad a strange thing has happened. Two people I have never met have become my family. I love them as truly as I would if they were my own. It’s a scary and beautiful thing.
Thank you River for planting the seed that has altered my life forever.
    Laura

    • River Jordan says:

      Laura,

You know I understand so very well exactly what you are talking about. And it makes me realize how much we are all family if we will only open our eyes and ears to the human story and our hearts to love. Thank you for writing!
      River
